Microsoft Vista Home Premium for the Home Use
Microsoft Vista is available in two editions: namely consumer and business. The consumer edition is further divided into four sub-categories which are Starter, Basic, Premium, and Ultimate. Each of these categories has its own salient and unique features.
Windows Vista Starter is meant to target home users in emerging markets. This category is the cheapest package, however, is not available in the US, Australia, the EU or Japan. Although, this package is not very feature-rich, you can do a lot with it. You can surf the net, use productivity and small business software packages that work with windows, enjoy multimedia functions, and have good administrative control to monitor online use.
Windows Vista Home Basic Edition lets you tackle your home computing needs in a safe and reliable mode. With Windows Vista Home Basic, you can organize your documents in an efficient manner so that locating documents with the instant desktop search feature is much simpler. Although, some features are still missing from this edition like the Aero interface, Windows Meeting Space, Windows Media Center and Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore which is used to tackle hardware failure. However, the inbuilt security features that include Windows Defender and Windows Firewall are on par with those offered in the other editions.
Windows Vista Premium Edition for home users has two important additions that have critics raving. One is the Aero interface that has universal approval. Aero offers easy navigation, transparent menu bars, and 3-D layouts. The other new aspect is the Windows Media Center that lets you do more with your movies and music for a superlative digital entertainment experience. Online computing is much safer than with older Microsoft operating systems because there are automatic backups of all your files. This, along with improved parental controls are other features available with this package. Mobile computing, wireless networking, and compatibility with Tablet PCs are some of the other helpful features that are included with the Premium edition.
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition is being pitched by the company as the most complete Vista edition. It is the ideal package for those who want the best in terms of productivity and play. Windows Media Center, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows DVD Maker are all present in the Ultimate edition. Manage your business with the help of centralized management tools and networking capabilities. The ability to be mobile while working is made possible with the help of Windows Tablet and Touch Technology. Technology exclusive to the Ultimate edition includes the Windows Ultimate Extras, which is a group of programs and services that include language packs for Windows multi-language interface, secure online key backup, and the bitlocker drive preparation tool. Alerts via the Ultimate Extra control panel will pop up whenever a new Extra is ready to be downloaded.
